Collection: Avengers

Lead by Captain America, the Avengers is a team of superheroes that was formed to protect the Earth from extra-terrestrial threats. Although they are mainly affiliated with the Strategic Homeland Intervention, Enforcement and Logistics Division or S.H.I.E.L.D. and the United States of America, their duty to protect and preserve peace extends to the rest of the world. The Avengers were first assembled when Loki Laufeyson the God of Mischief attacked Earth with his Chitauri army. The original team of Avengers comprised of Captain America, Iron Man, Thor, Hulk, Black Widow, and Hawkeye.

After defeating Loki, they disbanded for a while going their separate ways, before reassembling again to fight HYDRA, when HYDRA infiltrated S.H.I.E.L.D.. The Stark Tower was revamped to become the Avengers Tower, and once again the team assembled to defeat HYDRA. Subsequent to that , Tony starts the Ultron Program which was intended to be an Artificial Intelligence program that would be able to control the Iron Legion, to protect the Earth from future threats.

With the help of Bruce Banner, Tony completed the Ultron Program and incorporated the decrypted coding that was derived from the Mind Stone. Things did not go as planned and took a turn for the worst when the AI became sentient with the help of the Mind Stone, and Ultron was created. Ultron very quickly learned everything he could about Earth and declared war against mankind. With the help of his droids, Ultron attacked a city in Sokovia and planned to destroy all life on Earth by creating a meteor out of the city. Once again the Avengers assembled, to defeat Ultron and stop his genocide. When Ultron was defeated, the Avengers recruited new member Scarlet Witch, Vision, War Machine, and Falcon. They were then called the New Avengers, and they relocated to a new, more sophisticated facility.

After a few more successful operations, the Avengers were met with another dilemma, the Sokovia Accords. The United Nations passed the Sokovia Accords in an attempt to somewhat control the Avengers due to the collateral damage caused during their previous battles. There were disputes between the members of the team and consequently they split into two groups, one led by Captain America and the other led by Iron Man. Soon after, only three members of the Avengers remained official - Iron Man, War Machine, and Vision. The rest of them operated under the radar for a period of time.

Two years later, Thanos launched an attack on Earth in an attempt to complete his collection of the Infinity Stones. The Avengers having been separated battled Thanos' henchmen at different parts of the world and universe, trying to keep the stones from him. The gravity of the situation quickly reached other groups and soon the Avengers were joined by Spider-Man, the Masters of Mystic Arts led by Dr. Strange, the Wakandans led by Black Panther, and the Guardians of the Galaxy led by Star-Lord.
