The Joker

"In my dream the world had suffered a terrible disaster. A black haze shut out the sun, and the darkness was alive with the moans and screams of wounded people. Suddenly a small light glowed, a candle flickered into life. Symbol of hope for millions. A single tiny candle, shining in the ugly dark. I laughed and blew it out." - The Joker, Shadow of the Bat #37

The Joker is a madman. A psychopathic, homicidal, evil villain from the DC Universe who loves nothing more than absolute mayhem. He is Batman's arch nemesis and has no actual origin story. There are versions of The Joker's origin and probably the most renowned version is where he falls into a container of acid, permanently damaging his physical appearance. There is also a suggested version of his origin; he lived with his maniacal Aunt Eunice who would abuse him and bathe him with bleach till he retained permanent brain and physical damage.

In the story of the Red Hood Gang, The Joker was first introduced as Red Hood One, the leader of the gang. The gang was responsible for a series of crimes from blackmail to robbery and even murder, and their ideology wasn't astray from pointless murder and mayhem. As the members of the gang were caught one by one, the Red Hood Gang was left with nothing and subsequently no longer existent.

The Joker is known primarily for his grim sense of humor and senseless violence. His activities were dependent on Batman being alive to stop him. He was after all, a madman.  Having been caught by the Bat in numerous occasions, The Joker was a regular at the Arkham Asylum. He eventually built a reputation for being one of the most notorious criminals and became a crime boss, always outsmarting the Gotham City Police Department (GCPD) and sometimes even Batman. His following grew from the average criminals to super villains and very quickly he became the most dangerous villain the City of Gotham.

While in Arkham Asylum, Dr. Harleen Frances Quinzel was appointed as the psychiatrist for The Joker. Being highly intelligent (although insane), he managed to convince Dr. Harleen that his agenda to bring anarchy to Gotham City wasn't crazy and that it actually makes sense. Dr. Harleen eventually takes his side; losing a big chunk of her sanity in the process, and becoming the infamous Harley Quinn. Together they escaped Arkham Asylum time and time again to bring more senseless chaos to Gotham.

Standing at 6'5 and 190lbs The Joker is something else. Something that cannot be understood by anyone, not even Batman.
