The X-Men is a band of superheroes made up of mutants or homo superior who have been trained by other superior mutants and Professor Charles Xavier (or Professor X) and the Xavier's School for Gifted Youngsters. Primarily, their duty is to protect and preserve the peace between mankind and mutantkind, due to the countless disruptions caused by disputes and troubles created by people of both kinds. Their missions are funded by Professor X's family fortune that he inherited after the death of his parents.
Homo Superiors are born with superhuman abilities due to abrupt evolution, and the full manifestation of their powers usually surfaces with puberty. These mutants face a lot of hate in the world, thereby turning many of them evil. , After meeting the Shadow King, Professor X vows to protect the world from such evil and together with his partner and friend Moira MacTaggart, he decides to start the special school where he can guide and train mutants to become good people and protect the world from evil by using their powers for good.
The original roster of the X-Men from the late 1960s included some familiar names like Cyclops, Beast, Iceman, and a little less familiar ones, Angel and Marvel Girl. Their archenemy at the time was Magneto and his Brotherhood of Evil Mutants who featured Mastermind, Quicksilver, Scarlet Witch, and Toad. A little fun fact about Scarlet Witch and Quicksilver is that they are actually the children of Magneto.
However, in 1991, there was a revamp of the X-Men comic book series and a new line-up was introduced, the same line up most of us are familiar with today, namely Cyclops as the leader, Jean Grey, Wolverine, Beast, Storm, Rogue, Gambit, and Jubilee. Later, more characters joined the gang such as Morph, Nightcrawler, Kitty Pride, and Bishop. During this time, they had to battle against mutants led by Magneto and human leaders who were dedicated to taking down all mutants around the world with the help of their giant robots called the Sentinels.
